The Jurying meeting of HYP Cup 2013 International Student Competition In Architectural Design" took place at University of Chongqing on Sep 25th, 2013. A total number of 789 entries were received, and 77 of them were awarded, including 1 team of the First Prize, 3 teams of the Second Prize, 10 teams of the Third prize, 23 teams of Honorable Mention award and 40 teams of Finalist award. The work named "Imprint - Life" by Xing Teng and Liu Xiaoyang from School of Architecture, Tsinghua University won the first prize.

 

HYP Cup 2013 International Student Competition in Architectural Design is supported by Union of International Architects (UIA), hosted by School of Architecture, Tianjin University and Urban Environment Design（UED）Magazine Press. Dominique Perrault, the well-known French architect and winner of the the Mies van der Rohe prize is the Jury Chairman. Other jury members include Francisco Mangado from Spain, Chris Yao from Chinese Taipei, Eric Messerschmidt, Ashley Munday from UK, etc.

 

The theme of this competition is "the disappearance of architectures", Dominique Perrault said that Architecture as a discipline should no longer be thought in terms of objects. Architecture should be conceived as an integral part of the landscape, as well as Glass, concrete and metal, should be considered as the constituent elements of the entire landscape. To overwhelm the observable escalation in the production of contemporary architecture by introducing new situations and experiences of dialectic, between inside and outside, free and available space, in-between what is public and what is private. And the architects should keep asking and exploring the way of architecture development, investigating the complex need from the modern humans to the architectures and environment, following the specific situation and its event, building vigorous cities and structural spaces and seeking proper technology to realize it.
