Chongqing’s prosperity is due to the dock, but with the development of city modernization, the pier has its own highs and lows. Our site is located in Wanglong Gate - Dongshui Gate district in Yuzhong district, which was once a thriving commercial pier. People here built up thousands of steps in layers, and lively activities spread over the steps. With the decline of the shipping industry, in the late 20th century, riverbank fastroad took the place of the previous steps, riverside activity disappeared, and the life memory once belong to the locals blurred. A lot of waterfront space was occupied by a freight terminal, while the nearest city's CBD growing increasingly crowded, lacking for public space.

Using the wharfront ladder elements of traditional pier of chongqing riverside in the ecological park, the design reshapes the forgotten dock space of the riverbank, and it also closing up the gap between city and nature, finally ,it provides a comfortable hydrophilic public space in the high density area of the city . The museum as part of the park ,just melting in the overall landscape modestly.
