The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the earliest and longest artificial canal.Along with the urbaniz ation process, the old civilization of life on canal was falling into decay.
Under the pressures of the city explosion, the aim of design is finding a way to balance the preci ous civilization within the specific urban context.

Project locates in hangzhou. Part of the canal--from Dengyun Road to Zhongbei Bridge--has been chosen as an sample. The utilisation of this part keeps fallen due to the indifference and terminal decline of the canal resource.

With a pontoon system introduced into this area, the multi-functions provide possibility of varity activity for the citizens.

With the full ability of been assembled easily, the pontoon system could be pluged in any possible site, which also means the cityscape could be instantaneous and diverse.
