Project: Reconstitution—Disappeared Saint Nicholas
School: School of Architecture, Harbin Institute of Technology

The deepest memory in one's life are mother's face and hometown's image.
St Nicholas Cathedral was a shining point of Harbin that can't be replaced or deleted in people's memory.
However, Orthodox has declined in Harbin. A rebuilt cathedral only for memory but not religious activities seems meaningless.
So, we won't rebuild it.
Then, how to get back our memories?
We need essence but not only the architecture.
We simplify the cathedral's structure to frame, as the body's reviving.
We plant Pinus koraiensis in the frame, as the soul's injecting.
Combining the body with the soul, we wake up St Nicholas Cathedral and arouse people's memory.
It was as structure's blanking and essence's recreating.
