School: School of Architecture, Tianjin University
Background
Turpan, a popular destination for tourists,is famous for its great grape production.Grape trellis are everywhere in Turpan.
In this scheme ,we try to reflect regional characteristics such as the grape arbor and Earth Construction into visitor center to showcase characteristic culture of Turpan.
Concept
Grapes act as “breathing skin”of the building, regulating microclimate inside the building.
The pits differs in size and depth according to function. The ground floor is a large open space providing attractive spaces for community residents.A visitor center disappears among the vineyard.
There is no conventional building elements in the scheme.A space is defined through the ups and downs of the ground and the extention of grape vines.
